This is the last Will and Testament of me Barbara Chambers of Seaford in the County of Sussex Widow touching the Disposition of the Worldly Estate with which it hath pleased God to bless me with as follows that is to say Whereas I promised my late Husband James Chambers Esqr deceased that I would provide for our youngest Daughter Martha Chambers as he by his will would for our other Daughters and therefore no provision was made for her by his will Therefore I do hereby Give and Devise All that my messuage Farm Lands Tenements and hereditaments with the appurtenances situate lying and being in the parish of Patcham in the said County of Sussex now in the tenure or Occupation of Wm. Rogers and John Hampshire or of One of their Undertenant or Undertenants Assignee or Assigns and all other my mesuages Lands Tenements and hereditaments in Patcham aforesaid and as well Freehold as Copyhold unto the said William Rogers of Patcham aforesaid Gentleman and my Eldest Son James Chambers their Executors Administrators and Assigns from and immediately after my Decease for during and until the full End and Term of Five Hundred years from thence next ensuing and fully to be completed and ended Upon the Trusts and to and for the Intents and purposes hereinafter mentioned of and concerning the same that is to say That they my said Trustees shall and will out of the Rents and profits of the said Farm Lands and premisses yearly and every year from and after my Decease until my said Daughter Martha shall have attained to the Age of Twenty One years or Day of Marriage which shall first happen raise the yearly Sum of Fifteen pounds and pay the same for and towards the maintenance and Education of my said Daughter Martha during that Time And in Case my said Daughter Martha shall live to attain to the Age of Twenty One years or be married That then my said Trustees shall and will by Sale or Morgage of the said premisses or of a sufficient part thereof for all or a competent part of the said Term and by the rents and profits thereof in the mean Time raise the Sum of Five Hundred pounds and pay the same to my said Daughter Martha on her attaining to her said age of Twenty one years or Day of Marriage which shall first happen with Interest after the Rate of Four pounds by the Hundred by the year from that Time til the said Sum of Five Hundred pounds shall be raised and paid as afores’d And my Will is that in Case my said Daughter Martha shall dye unmarried before she hath attained to her said age of Twenty one years Or if she shall live to that time, then from and after all the Trusts concerning the said Term of Five Hundred years before mentioned shall be fully performed That then the said Term of Five Hundred years or so much thereof as shall remain unsold and undisposed of for the purposes aforesaid shall cease and be utterly void And I do hereby charge All my Estate both real and personal and as well Freehold as Copyhold with the payment of my just Debts which I shall owe at the Time of my Decease, And I give and bequeath all the residue of my personal Estate unto all my Children who shall be living at the Time of my Decease equally among them share and share alike Lastly I make and appoint the said William Rogers and my Son James Chambers Executors in Trust of this my Will and Guardians of my said Daughter Martha during her minority In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this Eighteenth Day of July in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Five – Barbara Chambers
