    The last Will and Testament of me Anne Burt of Cockfeild in the County of Sussex widow I desire to be decently buried And as for my Worldly Estate I dispose thereof as followeth (vizt) Whereas I am to receive the Rents of a Messuage and Smith's forge with the appurtenances in Cockfeild Town aforesaid now in the occupacion of John Walker William Stone and Thomas Jenner or their assigns for the Term of Five years from Lady day last in discharge of a Mortgage I have thereon Now I doe hereby give all the said Rents and all my Estate of in and to the said Messuage and premises unto John Stapley of Hicksted in the parish of Twineham in the said County of Sussex Gent and Richard Burt of Cockfeild aforesaid Tanner their Executors and Administrators Upon Trust that they the said John Stapley and Richard Burt and the Survivor of them his Executors and Administrators shall pay the said Rents during the said Five years unto my daughter Rose for her sole and separate Use and Maintenance exclusive of Jacob Stone her Husband And Whereas my daughter Jane by her Will gave me Three hundred pounds which will not become payable till after my decease Now I doe hereby give the said Three hundred pounds and One hundred pounds which Mr Short and Mr Brett owes me and all other my Monies and personall Estate whatsoever unto the aforesaid John Stapley and Richard Burt their Executors and Administrators Upon Trust that they the said John Stapley and Richard Burt and the Survivor of them his Executors and Administrators shall out of the Interest that shall be made of my said Monies and personall Estate pay to my Grandaughter Anne Crunden the yearly summe of Five pounds of lawfull money of Great Britaine during so long time as she shall live single and unmarried and not any longer And shall pay the rest of the Interest of my Monies and personall Estate And allso after the Marriage or death of the said Anne Crunden the said Five pounds per Annum unto my Grandsons Edward and Walter Crunden equally between them during their joint lives or to the Survivor of them And in Case my said Grandsons shall leave issue of both their bodies at the time of their deaths respectively Then shall pay the Principall (viz) One half to the Children of Edward and the other half to the Children of Walter And if One of my said grandsons shall die without Issue and the other shall have Issue Then shall pay the whole Principall unto such Issue But if both my Grandsons Edward and Walter shall happen to die without Issue then shall pay the whole principall unto the next of Kin of my said Grandsons And my Will is that all my said Monies shall be from time to time placed out at Interest by and with the Consent and Approbation of my said Grandsons Edward and Walter or the Survivor of them And if any be so placed out and lost that my Trustees shall not be accountable or charged or chargeable for the same or any part thereof so lost And I make the said John Stapley & Richard Burt Executors of this my last Will in Trust as aforesaid for my said Grandchildren And In Witness that this is my last Will and Testament I have hereunto sett my hand and Seall this Twenty Sixth day of May Anno domini 1730 Ann Burtt Signed Sealed and Published by the said Anne Burt in the presence of Edw Virgoe Wm Best Ann Best

    A Codicill to be annexed to the within written Will of me Anne Burt of Cockfeild in the County of Sussex Widow Whereas I have by my within written Will given my Monies and personal Estate unto John Stapley and Richard Burt within named their Executors and Administrators Upon Trust that they shall (amongst other things) pay to my Grandaughter Anne Crunden out of the Interest of the same Five pounds per Annum during such time as she shall live Single and unmarried Now my will is that my said Grandaughter shall have five pounds per Annum during her life And I hereby order and direct the said John Stapley and Richard Burt their Executors and Administrators out of the Interest of the said Monies and personall Estate to pay yearly unto my Daughter Rose for her sole and separate Use exclusive of Jacob Stone her Husband during her naturall life the yearly summe of Five pounds And the rest of the Interest of the same unto my within named two Grandsons Edward and Walter Crunden And I give to my Goddaughter Jane Stapley the Gold Earrings I now wear in my Ears And doe hereby ratify & confirme all the rest of my within written Will And In Witness that this Codicill is part of my Will I have hereunto sett my hand and Seale this Thirteenth day of December 1732 Ann Burtt Signed Sealed and Published by the said Anne Burt to be part of her Last Will In the presence of us Edw Virgoe Mary Virgoe

    July 30th 1733 The Administration of the Goods & Chattells with the will annext of the deceased was Granted to Edward Crunden & Walter Crunden Residuary Legatees in the said will named (John Stapley & Richard Burt Executors in the said will first renouncing) By us J Bristed Surrogate
